Places that can be Covered as per Kozhikode One Day Travel Itinerary

The following places can be covered comfortably as per Kozhikode One Day Travel Itinerary.

Tali Temple

Tali Temple is situated in the heart of the Kozhikode. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva – the revered Hindu God. It is built of laterite and wood and the overall architecture speaks of ancient craftsmen.

Tali Temple is home to an annual seven-day event which sees a lot of participation. It is celebrated to mark the new year of Kerala.

Kappad Beach

Kappad beach is where the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama reached India via here in 1498. Not only does the beach boasts of its historical significance but is also known for its clean and calm surroundings.

If you walk a little further, you get to see a memorial commemorating on Vasco Da Gama.

Kozhikode Beach

Kozhikode beach is known for its broken bridges built during the British era. Not only you can see the waves going back and forth but also you can get involved in Boating and Jetski activities.

Try tasting a Cauliflower bajji, which is available at the beach road. Also, you can visit an aquarium nearby to explore some fishes, tortoise,  some animals and birds such as ducks, rabbits and Emu.

Stone Memorial

The Stone Memorial at Kozhikode has been built in honour of the Portuguese explorer Vasco De Gama who first arrived at Kappad Beach along with other sailors from his country.

The Stone Memorial has a sharp inscription on it that says, “Vasco DA Gama landed here, Kappakadavu, in the year 1498.”

Indian Business Museum

Situated in IIM Kozhikode, Indian Business Museum is one of its kind in India dedicated to the Entrepreneurial ecosystem in India.

Here, you get to see the timeline of Business done in both the pre-independence and post-independence era. Companies like Infosys, Godrej, RBI etc have shared their experience here.

This museum not only inspires the budding entrepreneurs but also the public who get to know about the companies that have promoted the nation at the global level.

Mother of God Church

The Mother of God Church is an ancient structure located in Kozhikode. It also happens to be the headquarters of the Roman Catholic congregation in Malabar.

An old but graceful portrait of Saint Mary absolutely adorns the wall of the church. It’s a good place to visit.

Since Kozhikode is a non-veg paradise, you can easily find non-veg cuisines at every corner. Since I am a Vegetarian, I would suggest you try some Veg dishes that I found tasty during my stay there.

Recommended Beach in case you have Extra Time

Just in case you have some extra time, make sure to visit Beypore Beach. You can add it to your Kozhikode one day travel itinerary.

Beypore Beach

The most fascinating aspect of Beypore beach is the Pier (a walkway structure built in the shores). Walking in the pier gives visitors a chance to enjoy a beautiful view of the beach and its waters. The Pier walkway has become one of the ideal spots in Kozhikode.

Beypore beach was a trading hub for European and Middle east merchants.  Beypore was also a home of boat building units during those times, with clients from Europe, the Middle East and China.

Beypore is now settled to a fishing harbour and fishing has become the source of income for the Beypore residents.

Things to Skip in your Kozhikode One Day Travel Itinerary

1. Skip shopping if you’re on a one day tour.
2. Skip the food tour because it will not be fair to the delicious cuisine. Go on a food tour only when you’re in Kozhikode for at least three days.
3. Skip beach hoping. Else you will lose out on enjoying even one.
